National Aboriginal Day

The Government of Canada has declared June 21 each year to be National Aboriginal Day, the highlight of a weeklong celebration of the contributions made by Aboriginal people to Canadian society.

All Canadians are invited to participate in the many National Aboriginal Day events taking place from coast to coast to coast, celebrating Canada's First Peoples and recognizing their different cultures, languages and traditions.

Alberta is proud to be home to one of the largest, youngest and fastest-growing Aboriginal populations in the country.

Aboriginal Relations held a very successful National Aboriginal Day celebration on June 16, 2011. To view images from the event, visit YouTube  and Flickr.
